Enthusiasm
6' 7"' x 29'   2020

This mural was the third collaboration between students at Fairburn Avenue Elementary school and the artist, Kathleen. Enthusiasm and communicator are two core principles important to the 2nd and 3rd graders there, and were the inspiration for this mural. The animals painted are drawings created by the students, and were created after reflecting on "enthusiasm" and "communicator."

Hello, Goodbye
6' x 26'   2014

By mounting the canvas on a stucco wall, the artist collaborated with 97 students at Community Magnet Charter School to create this mural. It depicts a map of the school from an aerial vantage point and chronicles six years of the student's lives, including school events, friendships, field trips, favorite teachers and classes, sadness at leaving, and hopes for the future.

Haiku Wall
6' x 12'   2010

Located in Bel Air, CA, this dedication wall was made in collaboration with the culminating class of 2010 at Community Magnet Charter School.  Each student's individual artwork, chronicling their time and imprint at the school, is sealed by clear resin in the aluminum butterflies backed by plexiglass glass.  The sculptures were then mounted to the railroad tie wall.  The haiku is written by a student from the class of 2010.

Student Body
8' x 60'   2007

Also at Community Magnet, this mixed media installation features painted walls, as well as collages mounted on wood that depict internal organs which are made from recycled food packaging.  The mural is divided into three sections which discuss healthy eating habits, organic farming practices, and the importance of recycling. Located in the cafeteria/lunch seating area, students can interact with the piece by writing about their healthy habits on the sections of chalkboard.
